Incredible, Sacred Catholic Wedding Mass
St. Thomas Aquinas Newman Center | Lincoln, Ne
Every wedding day is beautiful, but Grace + Tim’s wedding film is definitely one of my top 10!
They were married early this summer at the St. Thomas Aquinas Newman Center in Lincoln, Nebraska, surrounded by family and friends. The best way I could describe their day is this: sacred and spirited.
They started the day off with private letters and a prayer, and they were both so grounded throughout the day. It’s clear that Jesus was at the center of their relationship, and the center of their wedding.
Their wedding film captured that sacredness, while also featuring their fun personalities and genuine love.
Some of my favorites from their day:
One of the common marks of my films is that I use letters that the couple has written to each other as an audio narrative to tell their story. Grace + Tim wrote each other letters, but asked to keep them private (which I am all for, and love that they did!). Instead, they wanted to use the Bible passages that were read at their wedding as the background for their wedding film. While a completely new venture for me, I absolutely love how it all played out! The readings they chose, although they are ones many of us have heard many times before, completely encapsulated and described their relationship in a beautiful way, and I love the imagery I was able to parallel (my favorite being “and the two become one flesh” as the Eucharist is raised — what a breathtaking visual of the Theology of the Body!)
Grace + Tim’s reception was train station themed - fitting, as it was held in the Lincoln Station. Their place cards were tickets, with each table representing a place that held a special importance in their relationship. Such a fun and cute idea!
Grace’s dad sang John Denver to her during his speech - might have been the pregnancy hormones, but I definitely cried!
There’s a moment I caught - and I’m so happy I did! - just after the homily when Tim whispers to Grace, “are you ready to become husband and wife?” and the smile on her face — it’s just precious! Another reason I will always encourage my couples to wear mics during their ceremony!
I am so thankful to be their wedding videographer - to be the one to witness and retell the story of the love they found through Christ.
Every wedding reminds me, more and more, of the love Christ has for each of us. I pray this film be a reminder — for Grace, for Tim, and for all who view it — that God knows what we need. That He does answer prayers. And that He has good things in store for us.
